The challenge
Build a more customer-centric website for its residents to better serve all website visitors
The City of Minneapolis’ website needed an entire overhaul and they entrusted Clockwork to work with the City’s internal digital team to build the best website experience to meet residents’ needs.
What we did
- Led a multi-year engagement to plan, evaluate, design, develop, and coach City staff through a complete overhaul of their online presence
- Recommended, implemented, and integrated a new content management system and hosting platform
- Coordinated efforts across 22 departments and 3 vendor partners to look at their content through their audiences’ eyes
- Interviewed residents, business owners, seniors, visitors, and people with accessibility issues to understand their needs and build personas
- Established a new human-centered content strategy, guidelines, training, and governance
- Created a resident-focused design and infrastructure to accommodate current and future needs across audiences, specifically addressing accessibility and search
- Reorganized the content by topic area and created guidelines to ensure that content is easy to scan and understand
